5 minutes TO REDUCE YOUR HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR’S STRESS

& Build a Strong Mother Daughter Relationship

“I spend a lot of time ‘talking her down’ from anxiety-fueled stress attacks,” a mom said the other day.

I was slightly taken back, since her daughter is an advanced student that seemed to have it all together.

The mom continued, “[One of the biggest difficulties we have right now is] the unbelievable level of stress that the kids are under. My daughter has seven classes per day, and each of the academic classes has a minimum of 45-90 minutes of homework per night. She averaged 3-5 hours of homework. Students are strongly encouraged to take massive amounts of AP classes and are told repeatedly how vital it is that they have their life planned out. I've see this high stress tend build over the years, and I don't like what I see it doing to the kids.”

Junior & senior year is one of the most stressful stages in their high school career. In fact according to a study by Positive Parenting Solutions, an overwhelming 56% of teens said that school is their biggest stressor, the next closest stressor didn’t garner even half the votes.

And stress results in teens acting out, getting into trouble, falling into depression, refusing to attend school, and even resorting to self-harm.
